January by the Bay!

Hey everyone!  It was a really busy month as we had to move one more time before our final move into our new house.  When the moving truck came on a Friday afternoon about three weeks ago, it left us somewhat buried under boxes.  It was evident that we moved from a bigger house to a smaller one.  This house is two stories though, and itś newly re-done, which is a fun change.  More specifics later.

Oh my gosh I just realized my blog name is now obsolete- weŕe living by the gulf!!! So if you have a new name suggestion let me know.  (Down by the Gulf, until we´ve had enough??)

For the first time in a while, Iḿ reporting to you ¨live¨ from my very own comfortable brown couch.  (Those of you who know them- know how cozy they are.)  Iḿ watching yet another handyman at work, this time hanging up all our framed wall art and do projects like that.  It REALLY helps it feel like home!  We can´t tell you how nice it is after being in temporary places for many months.  It reminds me of how thankful I am that even though we had these hardships from the hurricane, they were probably nothing compared to the situations that people with less means of support had.

So a little more about the house.  Itś in a neighborhood thatś about equidistant to the beach as we were for the first few months, just a bit farther.  Basically one large block, plus a little.  Can´t wait til we can go swimming again at the beach when it warms up a bit more consistently.  We have finished unpacking all of the downstairs (common rooms and master bedroom) and also the girls' room upstairs.  We had to hire people to install all the blinds and curtain rods and towel rods and so forth, even closet shelves.  Once that finally got done we could beautify more and start to enjoy the space, as it became fully functional.

All this came just shortly after we enjoyed a visit with Marie and Elly!  As always, we were thrilled to spend time with these two awesome dodas (aunts!)  Pictures below.  They helped us get ready for the move and of course we did lots of requisite fun things together.  Several times to the beach, once to the arcade, some shopping trips, and just cooking, relaxing, and playing.  These are the best dodas any kids could ask for!!!

The girls continue to be great learners and leaders in the classroom.  They just started experimenting with Boomwhackers Club (see this) and Adira with Chorus.  I think theyĺl both be going to basketball club too.  (I really miss coaching!)  On those days we pick them up from school, and on other days they ride the bus, which is fun.  Especially for Nesi, who plans this as playtime with particular kids.

David has been the really big wildcard these last few weeks!  He is 2 yrs, 3 mos, and getting into everything!  Pouring, spilling, climbing, breaking and entering, arranging lots of cars, and also potty-training!  Heś doing great with that.  He is enjoying practicing finger-plays and songs; Iĺl upload a video sometime soon.  However, he often interupts his own performance with enthusiastic cheering for himself, and then wont continue!!  Heś still everyoneś darling, of course, and still loud.  Ahhhem.  Waiting for him to outgrow that precious scream of delight/surprise/etc.

Below are photos from some other recent events- a beautiful new Torah scroll dedication at the Chabad synagogue in Destin, and other fun things we squeezed in between unpacking dozens and dozens of boxes.

Doing some Torah/Hebrew learning :)

Chabad of the Emerald Coast- Another beautiful event!

The very big deal that is upon us next is my brother Joeś wedding to Rachel!  I´ve said ¨I can´t wait¨ only about 1437 times since they got engaged, and finally, weŕe just about to go for the trip for the wedding on Sunday!  Weŕe going to get to spend time with lots of relatives and friends we don´t get to see often, so itś going to be a special opportunity and celebration.  I know I speak for my sisters also in saying we can´t wait for Rachel to join the family, and perhaps Robert would have something to share with Rachel, but itś too late to warn her about marrying a Brophy!!! :-D ;-D  Just kidding, weŕe not too crazy on most odd-numbered days of the week, but itś fun to think about how now Robert will have someone to relate to, just like me and my Friedman sisters-in-law. Tammy, Simi, Deb and I are all married to Friedman brothers and we have fun figuring out how those clocks tick!  Bottom line is the entire Brophy clan is fortunate and blessed to gain Rachel, she is a very special person in so many ways.

I will look forward to sharing wedding photos soon, G-d willing, after the big celebration happens!  And it won´t be too long after that that we have most of those other boxes unpacked and can officially invite you to be our guest in our rad play room/guest room.

Love lots, and best wishes,
KRAND
Kate, Robert, Adira, Nesya, and David
